From 25 to 27 February 2026, the EXA4MIND consortium met at the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava in Ostrava, Czech Republic, for the project’s final face-to-face plenary meeting. Hosted by IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, the three-day meeting provided an important opportunity for the consortium to review all the milestones and deliverables they will work on over the next two months before the project officially concludes at the end of April.
Three days of intense work have been dedicated to reviewing the progress made by the project’s various teams, including those responsible for science, technology and communications. The roadmap has been set out to achieve the agreed results and meet important upcoming deadlines.
Thanks to the External Advisory Board, consisting of Maike Gilliot from CEA and Alessandro Laio from SISSA, and the Ethical Advisor, Josef Spillner from ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences, the meeting was particularly special as the consortium received direct feedback on the project’s development. The most important point to be discussed between the consortium and the External Advisory Board & Ethical Advisor was the final project review meeting, which will take place in June.
In addition to the discussions, the EXA4MIND consortium had the privilege of visiting the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center facilities, where we saw first-hand the Barbora and Karolina supercomputers and the VLQ quantum computer, developed by the LUMI-Q consortium. EXA4MIND would like to thank Branislav Jansik, the Supercomputing Services Director at IT4Innovations, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, for showing us around and answering all our questions.
The meeting in Ostrava gave all partners with a valuable opportunity to meet in person for the last time, reinforcing the collaborative and teamwork spirit that has characterised the EXA4MIND project over the past three years.
