Exa4mind – Extreme Analytics for Mining Data spaces

The High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering (HPCSE) conference was held from 20 to 23 May this year in the Beskydy Mountains, Czech Republic. Organised by the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, the event attracted 85 experts from various fields, including high-performance computing, applied mathematics, numerical analysis, high-performance data analytics, machine and deep learning, quantum computing, and advanced visualisation.

The HPCSE 2024 conference drew the attention of the leading experts from various European research institutions. Notable attendees included prominent figures such as Patrick Farrell from the University of Oxford, Bradley Treeby from University College London and Joachim Schöberl from the Technical University of Vienna. Czech experts Josef Šivic and Jakub Mareček from the Czech Technical University in Prague also participated at the event.

Among the attendees were the partners from the EXA4MIND project, including the coordinator Jan Martinovič. Pinar Karagöz from Middle East Technical University in Turkey was one of the invited plenary speakers at the HPCSE 2024 conference. She gave a talk, ‘From Text to Query: Using Large Language Models, Challenges, Future Directions’, where she promoted the EXA4MIND project. Martin Golasowski from IT4Innovations mentioned the EXA4MIND project in his presentation titled: ‘Easy access to HPC workflows using the LEXIS Platform’.

The conference included a poster session. David Číž from IT4Innovations took this opportunity to introduce a short presentation and together with Radek Furmánek presented the poster ‘ADAMS4SIMS – database curation for MD simulations’. Huseyn Gurbanov from Leibniz Supercomputing Centre also gave a short presentation and then with Pinar Karagoz presented the poster ‘Optimised DBMS Deployments and DBMS Benchmarks for Extreme Data Workflows’.

The conference served as a platform for exchanging knowledge and ideas and sparked new research collaborations.
