An important event for the European community interested in big data and artificial intelligence took place in the city of Valencia from 25 to 27 October. The European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF), organised by the Big Data Value Association, was hosted under the auspices of the Spanish European Council presidency in collaboration with the European Commission and local partners. EXA4MIND was represented by its team and management, showing its commitment to the European big data community.
The theme that echoed throughout the event was ‘Data and AI in action: sustainable impact and future realities’. The European Big Data Value Forum serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and the exploration of novel perspectives on Big Data and AI to industry experts, developers, researchers, and policymakers.
The forum featured 250 speakers who presented topics related to Big Data and artificial intelligence. EBDVF 2023 boasted a diverse three-day program, including plenary and special sessions, workshops, panel discussions, and ample opportunity for networking.
The EXA4MIND project co-sponsored EBDVF 2023 and had a booth in the exhibition hall. The event helped EXA4MIND promote its activity in developing an Extreme Data Platform integrated with European supercomputing and data spaces.
‘The forum gave me very valuable insights into the landscape of European data spaces and Big Data. Besides presenting ourselves, we got key hints, e.g., on the Dataspace Protocol from the Data Spaces Support Centre and the International Data Spaces Association, enabling us to make connections. We thank the Big Data Value Association and are looking forward to follow-up events‘, said Stephan Hachinger, EXA4MIND science and co-design coordinator from Leibniz Supercomputing Centre.
EBDVF 2023 attracted 650 attendees; its next edition will take place in Budapest.
