The 35th International Conference focused on high performance computing, networking, storage, and analysis – SC23 – was held from 12 to 17 November at the Colorado Convention Centre in Denver, USA. Its theme ‘I am HPC’ attracted over 14,000 HPC professionals and offered space to 438 exhibitors from all around the world, including HPC hardware and software manufacturers, universities, and research organisations. IT4Innovations was one of the exhibitors, presenting its activity of the Czech National Supercomputing Center, and the international projects it is involved in.
One of the promoted projects, which IT4Innovations coordinates, is the EXA4MIND project. EXA4MIND had opportunity to highlight its activity thanks to a presentation screened at booth number 218. IT4Innovations distributed flyers and EXA4MIND merchandise to the attendees. Many participants also joined a raffle, which rewarded three lucky winners with beautiful prizes.
The conference offered lectures, workshops, discussion forums, and poster sessions. As a part of the conference, the ranking of the most powerful and the most energy-efficient supercomputers were announced. The list of the most powerful supercomputers in the world, TOP500, experienced enormous changes, and five new or upgraded systems appeared in the TOP10. The first place still belongs to the American supercomputer Frontier, the only exascale system in the ranking. The second spot is occupied by the supercomputer Aurora, which is expected to surpass Frontier with its performance reaching 2 EFlop/s in the future. In third place appeared a new system called Eagle, installed in the Microsoft Azure cloud.
The conference featured a diverse and cutting-edge technical program, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, cloud computing and quantum computing, offering the perfect opportunity for networking. The next SC conference will be held in Atlanta from 10 to 15 November 2024.
